Deliverables
Event site in English · Speaker list with affiliations · Countdown and registration status · Programme, travel, parallel events and award sections · Layouts at three widths
The home page of the UIA International Forum site: the forum mark with its dates, the navigation, and the theme, “Mass tourism in historic cities”.
The first screen carries the forum's mark, its dates and its theme — what the event is and when, before anything else. As delivered in 2019.

Task

A professional forum sells its programme through its speakers. A prospective delegate — an architect deciding whether to fly to another country — is judging who will be in the room, and registration closes long before the event does.

What we did

  • Built the event site around the speaker list, with each speaker's affiliation and standing.
  • Named each session by the subject it takes.
  • Placed a live countdown to the opening on the first screen.
  • Stated the registration status plainly, including once it was closed.
  • Gave the programme, travel information, the parallel events and the forum's architecture award their own sections.
  • Built the site in English at three widths, for an audience arriving from a dozen countries.

Result

A delegate deciding whether to travel could see who was speaking, on what, and by when to register.

Product Overview

The speaker grid of the forum site, each speaker with their country and affiliation, followed by the registration, tour information and programme blocks.
Affiliation and country sit under every name, because that is what a delegate weighs before booking a flight.
The same home page at 672 pixels wide: one column, the menu behind a button, the countdown under the theme.
At phone width the page has a layout of its own — one column and a menu button — not a shrunken desktop.
The home page at 930 pixels wide: the tablet layout, with the speaker cards in three columns.
At tablet width the speaker grid drops to three columns and the menu moves behind a button.
