The home-page design for the Japanese Garden site: a rotating banner above the menu category grid.
From the design project. A rotating banner sits above the category grid, and the basket, sign-in and language switch stay in the header on every page.

Task

Japanese Garden delivered across Baku and the surrounding area from a menu of twelve categories. Its delivery rules changed by address, by hour and by payment method. A customer had to choose a dish and learn whether it could reach them, on the site itself.

What we did

  • Built the site around the menu catalogue: twelve categories, from sushi, sashimi and rolls to desserts, drinks and a kids' menu.
  • Added an ingredient filter to every category, so a customer avoiding eel or looking for a vegetarian roll narrows the list.
  • Gave every dish its photograph, composition, price and a quantity control that puts it straight into the basket.
  • Built a delivery section with the hours, the minimum order, what happens to an order placed after closing and the areas outside Baku that need a call to the operator.
  • Listed three ways to pay: cash on delivery, card on delivery, and online through the payment service of PASHA Bank.
  • Delivered the site in Azerbaijani and Russian, with its own layout at 480px.

Result

Delivered in 2016, the site made the full menu browsable and orderable in two languages, with the delivery rules on the site rather than over the phone.

Product Overview

The catalogue design: a category rail, ingredient filters, and dish cards with price and basket controls.
From the design project. Categories run down the left, ingredient filters across the top, and each card carries the composition, the price and a quantity control.
The design of the order window: basket, contact and delivery details, and payment, with the order total alongside.
From the design project. Checkout runs in three steps inside one window — basket, details, sending — and the total stays in view throughout.
The design of the delivery page: the delivery terms in three blocks, with the delivery methods below.
From the design project. Delivery terms come first, in three short blocks, before any detail.
The home-page design at 480 pixels wide: the logo, the phone number and the menu categories as large two-column tiles.
From the design project. At phone width the categories become large tiles in two columns, and the phone number stays at the top.
