Deliverables
Official site with a live countdown · News and press section · Sports programme with venues and days · Host country and city section · Email subscription
The home page of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games site, with a live countdown to the opening.
The countdown is the page's spine — the ornament grid around it carries the identity into the interface. As delivered in 2016.

Task

A multi-sport international games has one public address and several audiences: spectators, delegations, press and the federations behind them. Before the event the site had to hold their attention across a countdown measured in months.

What we did

  • Built the official site around the countdown to the Games.
  • Gave news, the sports programme with its venues and days, the host country and city, and the federation running the Games their own sections.
  • Gathered press releases in one grid, with an email subscription at its head that keeps returning visitors informed.
  • Built the visual system of the interface on Azerbaijani ornament, so the identity runs through the interface and not only in the mark.

Result

Through the run-up the Games had one public address, with news, sports and press material under a live countdown.

Product Overview

The Sports page: every discipline with its venue and gender, and its competition days in May 2017 marked in a grid.
The whole programme on one screen: the sport, the venue and the days it runs.
The Press section: a newsletter sign-up beside the grid of press releases, each with its photograph and summary.
Releases reach the press in one grid, with the newsletter sign-up at its head.
The Azerbaijan section of the Games site, introducing the host country and city to visiting delegations.
The host country has its own section, because half the audience is arriving from abroad for the first time.
